Course objectives (in Czech)
To improve the knowledge of practical English so that at the end of the course all the students are at the beginning of C1 level in all the language skills.
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
Students will prove their knowledge of the above-mentioned vocabulary and grammar structures and they will be able to use them effectively in written and spoken communication in English at the lower C1 level.
Syllabus (in Czech)
Topics: Further development of vocabulary, grammar and namely speaking skills so that the language discourse of the students is accordingly accurate and the range of the language is wide enough. In this course the students will go through the first 7 units of the Complete Advanced (second edition) coursebook. Extra materials focusing on enhancing of vocabulary (mainly collocations related to the topics), grammar accuracy and development of speaking will be used, based on the needs of the students. The students will get introduced to the complete format of the C1 Advanced Cambridge Exam. Topics – vocabulary areas: 1. People, 2. Mastering language, 3. All in the mind, 4. Jobs, 5. Dramatic events, 6. Art, 7. Leisure and entertainment Grammar: 1.Narrative tenses, 2. Purpose, reason and result, 3. Negatives, the passive, 4. Possibility, probability and certainty, 5. Verbs followed by infinitive or –ing, 6. Avoiding repetition, 7. Linking ideas
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Students will participate actively during the lessons. Their progress will be assessed based on the tasks given in the course of the semester. In order to obtain the credit, the student will have to achieve 48% in the credit test.
