- Course objectives (in Czech)
- The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic morphological terms and categories related to word classes in the English language. The presentation of the concepts is independent of any specific language, whether it be Czech or the student's mother tongue. Topics:
- Learning outcomes (in Czech)
- The student gains knowledge of basic terms of English morphology and learns to identify the morphemic structure of the word, word classes and their categories. The topics concern namely the English nouns, pro-nouns, adjectives and adverbs. The course is also focused on the reflection of the theoretical background against practical application and language skills, with the view of their usage in ELT
- Syllabus (in Czech)
- 1. Theoretical background, word and morpheme, inflective and derivative morphology. 2. Part of speech, conversions and alternations. 3. Nouns and their categories: number. 4. Countability of nouns. 5. Definition of the noun. 6. Gender and case of nouns. 7. Pronouns, their classification and function. 8. Numerals and their classification. 9. Adjectives and adverbs, their gradation.

- Active participation in the course successful completion of partial tests and a final written test (60%).
