Course objectives (in Czech)
To foster practical application of knowledge gained during the lectures in Teaching Language Skills course.
Learning outcomes (in Czech)
A student will gain sufficient knowledge about the nature of language skills (macro and micro skills) to enable them to participate in Teaching Practice. They will also develop the ability to apply this knowledge when analysing and evaluating teaching materials and pedagogical situations that are aimed at developing and practising of language skills and the development of learner strategies.
Syllabus (in Czech)
1. Introduction tor language skills: receptive, productive and subskills. 2. Reading, listening, speaking and writing: characteristics of the skills and corresponding subskills. 3. Language skills in teaching and techniques for skills development: reading and listening comprehension, writing, speaking and interaction. 4. Working with a text with the aim to focus on language systems (grammar, vocabulary and phonology). 5. Integrated skills. 6. Use of textbooks and ways of adapting authentic materials. 7. Project work teaching.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Credit is awarded for active participation during seminars and for the completion of three written assignments concerning language skills.
